Lock Setup

Locks and security devices in particular need a special setup to work with Axial Server. Follow these steps below to get things working.

  1. Download and install the latest version of Axial Server. You will require the Pro Version or a 30-day Trial to use locks.
  2. From the Tools menu, run Controller Setup and verify that your USB stick is properly connected (You'll see "Controller" show up in your device list when it is.
  3. If your lock is already included into your network, please exclude it now.
  4. From within Axial Server, go to Tools/Options/Z-Wave Controller and check "Use Beta Z-Wave Controller"
  5. Reboot your computer
  6. Include your lock using Axial Server by using the Tools/ZWave Commands/Include (network wide) menu. This part is vital, as without it, Axial Server won't know the security keys to use for communication with the lock. For Kwikset locks, it's possible to take the back of the lock off and move it near the computer.
  7. Test your lock - if all went well, you should see a lock show up in your device list and you should be able to issue Lock/Unlock commands from the console.

Manual Lock/Unlock Notifications

In order to receive notifications from your lock when the deadbolt is operated manually, you'll need to configure it to send alarm reports back to your USB stick. The easiest way to do this is to use the auto-configure feature. From Axial Server, right click your lock and choose "Auto-configure." You should receive a message stating that your lock was successfully signed up for event notifications.
